District 97 Elementary School Teacher Needed

Dawn Fogle Deaton, Teacher Leader of the District Wide World Language Program (FLES) is searching for a elementary Spanish teacher that is experienced in Type 03 or Type 10 Spanish and is fluent in oral and written Spanish language.

October 1st Working Meeting at Lincoln School Successful

The WLAC thanks all those who attended last night's workshop on mobilizing on specific internal and external goals for 2007-2008. Presently we have 26 citizens representing Brooks, Julian, Irving, Lincoln, Longfellow, Mann and Whittier schools involved with the Citizen Group and have 5 citizens from Hatch, Lincoln, Mann and Whittier Schools interested in being PTO language representatives.

Kathleen and Dawn commented on the positive energy and focus to help the in-curricular programs to meet goals as well as strengthen the connection between in-curricular and extra-curricular programs.

If you know of other individuals who would be interested in investing about four hours a month in the WLACCG, or be a PTO representative, or if they are supporters of language, please forward their name, school affiliation (if any), and e-mail address and send it to wlacop@gmail.com.

WLAC Citizen Group Members for 2007-2008

The World Language Advisory Committee has been meeting with parents and citizens at public presentations over the past six months to share its CD-ROM presentation and to learn first-hand what the perceptions and needs of language is in Oak Park.

On October 1st, the WLAC met with a group of citizens who are committed to strenghening language in Oak Park and will be helping the WLAC meet specific goals for 2007-2008. The 27 citizens are working in two groups – an internal group focusing on curruculum, research and resources; and an external group focusing on communications and parent relations.
